One of the most exciting and ambitious programs of the National Wild Turkey Federation focuses on women.
Through the Women in the Outdoors program, the NWTF is inrroducing more women to outdoor recreation.
The mission of the NWTF’s WITO program is to provide outdoor learning opportunities that are exciting and hands on for women ages 12 over. The NWTF’s goals are to teach the importance of managing our wildlife and natural resources, increase participation in outdoor related activities and to share hunting traditions. We will accomplish this goal by introducing more women to outdoor activites, training women as outdoor educators, and providing a network for individual with simular outdoor interests with in our local chapter systems. Through these programs, women will become members of the NWTF. We also hope these women will become actively involved in the conservation efforts of the NWTF’s state and local chapters. This program offers events that are affordable for busy and budget-conscious women and will be hosted through the NWTF’s growing local chapter system. Through this network, the NWTF can offer hundreds of events each year to teach women hunting, fishing, camping, shooting and many other outdoor skills.

SHE IS THE WOMEN IN THE OUTDOORS
She does not wear hand me down camouflage any more. Her rfle and shotgun are shiny and new. She does not neede her hand held as she goes to her pre-dawn stand. She is versed in conservation and management. She has innovative ideas to improve both. The blinded eyes of those who wish to keep her down no longer keep her down. She reminds herself that she mjust be more intelligent, more proficient, and just better over all just to be taken seriously. And she is serious. The wieght of the future is shifting and she is still a woman whether she is in camo or silk. Though she is small in staure; yther is strength in numbers and her numbers are growing. She has a voice and when the roll is called, her voice will be heard. She is a Women in the Outdoors.
